Sudan wants Ethiopian peacekeepers to leave Abyei
Sudan has submitted a request to the United Nations to replace Ethiopian peacekeepers on South Sudan’s border with Sudan, according to state news agency Sunnah.
“This change is important,” he said, referring to the current bilateral relations and neutrality of the two countries. Sudan raised the issue in April.
It is worth noting that the United Nations Security Council established Unisfa in 2011 and elected Ethiopian troops to maintain peace in the occupied territories.
Abyei State is a state that separates Sudan and South Sudan and is believed to be a country of both countries according to the Abyei Protocol.
