Sudan wants to sign a conditional agreement with Ethiopia on the Grand Renaissance Dam.
Sudan’s Minister of Water, Yasser Abbas, said in a statement issued on Monday that Sudan would accept a conditional agreement, including the signing of agreements, in the coming months. He told reporters in Khartoum today.
He said Sudan wants the negotiations on the Renaissance Dam to continue and the talks to take place within a certain period of time. The three countries have already “reached an agreement” on most technical issues but no binding agreement has been reached, he added. The Ethiopian government has announced that it is preparing to complete the second round of the dam in the coming winter months. Ethiopia, Egypt, and Sudan have not met since the African Union (AU) negotiated in Kinshasa last April.
